GIS/COMPUTER CARTOGRAPHY LABORATORY

Who We Are:  The CCSU GIS/Computer Cartography Laboratory is located in Rm. 312 DiLoreto Hall at Central Connecticut State University.  The laboratory has been in existence for more than 10 years and was built through grant activity and with the support of the Information Services Department of CCSU and Connecticut State University.


What We Do:  The lab's principal purpose is to support our education efforts in Geographic Information Systems and cartography (map-making) using computers.  

Additionally, we offer  training in our lab or at your site in Arcview GIS and ArcInfo for groups from 5 to 15.  Our training is customized to use your data and it works with problems that would be relevant to your organization.  We have trained staff from municipal government, state government and community organization.  Some recent classes...

We also offer GIS and mapping services to the university, municipalities, non-profit groups and urban and regional planning consulting firms.   Some recent projects include:

Our Facilities:  The lab has 16 PC workstations and several networked servers for data storage.

Software:  The university participates in a statewide site license agreement with Environmental Systems Research Institute that provides access to most ESRI software.
